I recently ordered a maple leaf coin from the Royal Canadian Mint website. When it arrived, I opened the slip of authenticity and saw that my coin was number 2 out of 30 000. I thought it was pretty special. I am now wondering if this adds some value to the coin. Any thoughts?

Some people will pay a premium for low COA's.
Try your luck on ebay and see what happens.

Yup, the short answer is that it adds value if someone is willing to pay you a premium for a piece of paper with #2 on it. Maybe yes, maybe no, but probably.

Please be aware that the #2 on your COA does not mean that the coin was the second one struck. The COAs are inserted randomly into the coin cases during packaging -- there is no definitive link between strike order and COA number.

There is no added value, if the coin in the collection.

My advise in small experiment:

the coin has large mintage, so will be available for long time, so - list your coin on ebay, setting auction with starting price as issue + 13% and see. Some people looking for low COAs ....
Very easy.

And in collection, again, it still the same nice Maple leaf coin, disregards COA.

My coin waiting for me at CP...

I wouldn't sell it for less then double issue price on ebay, there is always someone wanting those really low numbers, Plus ebay and Paypal fees will eat up 10 percent or more of the profit

Heck try triple issue in a Buy it now, you could run it for 30 days free, rinse and repeat until it sells lol.
