I almost choked on my morning coffee as NGC gave this an ms62 grade.

ICCS at the very best would grade it au55.

Any chance that the obverse die was not struck firmly enough and that leaves the tip of the mustache showing a bit of flatness..and that gives the impression of slight wear..?

The leaves on the reverse look so complete and untouched..

..but bag marks on the obverse do show in that pic..but then again..the details in the jewels on his robe look very complete..and sharply detailed..

..nickelsguy to the rescue here....

Weakly struck or not, I'm not sure. Either way, this is way too baggy for a 62. The marks on the face alone, should have brought this down to a 60. This is why I don't touch American slabs.

One of the sharper struck examples- can see all pearls in crown, usually even on mint examples they're not there.

I'd give it a au50. Surprised it's in a newer NGC slab? Good old NGC.

All of that frostiness in and around the legends could also be some kind of environmental damage,..

.. and if so, should be reflected on the holder..

It certainly doesn't look natural in and around the legends..

Looks like the images are from a scanner. I wouldn't judge AU vs MS from that. Appears to be well struck, considering.
