Hey all, my friend has this coin and is trying to get some info on it. I am pretty sure it is a counterfeit, but he and I are trying to get more info on it. Any help will be appreciated.

I'm not an expert in reales but I don't see any details that look wrong. Is the diameter 27 mm? Is the mass a little less than 6.77 g (to account for excessive wear)? Is it non-magnetic? What makes you suspect it's counterfeit? There's a good picture of a real one (no pun intended) at http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces18855.html

Porous quality of the coin, and it's about a gram under weight. Dont know the diameter.

Could be sea water or environment damage. Gut feeling is that it is genuine but badly worn.

Agreed that one gram is a bit much for a 6.77 gram coin, that's about 15%. Are there any thin spots on the coin? It seems like it lost quite some mass near the edge at some points.
It should be silver, so it can be tested (would even further destroy your coin, but hey...). Please measure it first (both diameter and thickness), then we probably already know more.
