There are millions of Star Trek fans but not all are coin collectors. Otherwise all of the RCM Star Trek coins would have been sold out long time ago.

This was exact my point.

Delta isn't bad and has a low mintage - it bought by collectors and re-sellers.
But there is no such rush to buy as for 2013 Superman coin - that was popular.

From my point of view.

Most flippers already ordered from RCM or other dealers ( those offered RCM 's issue price or little premium )

Those buyers bought on ebay with CAD$1750+, should be collectors not flippers. Because no more profit for flippers to resell if buy from ebay.

Regarding popularity of 2013 Superman Gold Coin, I remember most collectors called it " most ugly 14k coin of the year " and refused to order from RCM's website ( no max quantity when release )

lol.

It was later, people were crazy about this coin after sold prices suddenly appreciated..

Price for one ounce gold today is over $1700.00 Canadian.

I do the math this way and please correct me if I am wrong.

Star Trek Gold Coin $1299.95 plus $200.00 face value equals $1499.95....not far off from the price of a full one ounce of gold.

@new1954

1. Delta Gold Coin is 1/2oz.
( Spot on 1oz Gold = USD$1328 = CAD$1724, so 1/2oz Gold spot = USD$664 = CAD$862)

2. When selling precious metal coin
minimum selling price = price of coin's weight x spot or coin's denomination ( whichever is higher but no combination )
maxinum selling price = price that collectors are willing to pay

Yes, that time it was sure all about money:

new coin on the RCM - ugly sticker on small 14k gold coin, overpriced - what I will do with it?
The coin started to sell well and prices went up - wow! I have to get this first Superman neat gold coin!

@Silveroid

Are you talking about me?

lol.

I found 2013 Superman Gold Coin ugly in the beginning and refused to order from RCM.

After ebay sold prices surged, I found "genuine beauty" of this coin, and begging rep to find me one and bought 2pcs from dealer for issue + $50 each coin.

As I recalled, there was no problem with the design. Almost everyone said it was a great looking coin.

It was the price that was the problem. People said paying $750 for a 14k gold coin was too much.

Oh no, Justsilver

It is all of us (in general) as collectors and other on-time or frequent Mint customers.

Then and now some of us do not like the design and concept. And some (NuMoose) - being Superman fans, bought all 2013 SM release, without knowing that the gold will be hot.

But some people, without doubt, rushed to get it, when the coin shown signs of popularity.

RCM's Delta Gold Coin release date is a little bit strange compared to other RCM's coins.

RCM's website released this coin on May 6th to MC Prestige, May 13th to general public.

But RCM's Mint Boutiques can not sell this coin yet. Sep 6th is the release date on Delta Gold Coin for RCM's Mint Boutiques.

Strange, isn't it?

People mentioned on other forum some Disney related Lego.
My thought was - this is big miss for Lego and Star Trek not to cooperate. I think, I've seen some k'nex or mega blocks figures of ST heroes, but this not comparable to Lego abilities to create nice stuff.

Together with this, my hope , that RCM will not mint additional ST coins for a long time. And imo, they missed on not striking some nice proof series of the star vessels.
