In the past, Silver Eagle proofs have been released in January.

This year they are still in TBA status on the Mint's schedule. The same goes for the Burnished ASE, which usually is released about this time of the year.

I have tried searching for the reason, but I cannot find any info on why these coins are still TBA.

The 2016 bullion ASE's have been out for a while.

Has anyone heard what the delay is?

Maybe the Mint is planning something for the 30th Anniversary?

The burnished and proof ASE's for 2016 are supposed to have edge lettering (by congressional mandate I believe)and I am betting that that requirement is causing the delay.

Yup. Anniversary issue with new design. Is that keeping it up or are they waiting for a specific date of the year to coincide with the anniversary too?

Anybody know the exact date in 1986 they released the first ASE's?

The bill authorizing the edge-lettering (also the change of silver proof and commemorative composition) was introduced far too late in 2015 to allow for January and April releases.

Very much looking forward to my non-bullion ASE fix.

Perhaps this thread should be in the NCLT forum.
