Morning Earl, Looks like something adhered to it,polymer?Acetone does not remove everything.I don't see this as a struck through. John1

Your coin suffers from corrosion, not struck through wire.

Note how it is raised from the surface? If it were a struck through something, it would incuse and not raised.

A die scratch would be raised on the struck coin while a struck through debris would be incuse. John1

I am guessing that if a coin were stuck through and the object remained on the coin, the area would be raised.

No it would force the object into the surface of the coin.

To me it looks like it is on the surface, like a glue or something.
