A few minutes after describing what a clipped planchet was to my son, he found the coin below in the box we were searching. Error or PMD? I am not sure.

Looks like a clip to me. The ends of the clip look tappered on the rim and the edge opposite of the clip looks a little flattened. Google "blakesley effect" for more info.

Look at the rim damage under NT in CENT,
known as the "Blakesley effect"!

Nice find. Kind of amazing how an error like that can stay in circulation for 40 years before finally getting tucked away in a coin collection.
