On March 23 this year I submitted a 1916d Mercury dime to NGC through a reputable dealer. I realized that they save a few in order to cut down costs prior to submission. I'm over a month out and was wondering if this is normal.

Seems odd until you think about it. 5 day shipping there 15 day turnaround 5 day shipping back so, 25 days or almost a month. However, the dealer probably waited until he had a bunch of coins lined up to send in. this may add a few days or evern weeks. I suggest contacting the dealer and inquiring about your submission. PS. today is only the 2nd, meaning the coin has only been out for 9 days!oops

I myself have been waiting 3 months for my 3 coins to return from NGC.My dealer did tell me he was sending in about 300 coins with mine.Atleast he warned me but I am getting really anxious,as I submitted what He and I believed to be SMS coinage.1964 Quarter and 1964 Lincoln Cent.Hang in there.

I just put 2 1914d Lincoln cents through NCS first and then NGC. I waited about 6 weeks and then gave them a call. I had forgot that on my order form I requested that they call me for CC info instead of writing it down there. When the lady (super nice) saw that she told me my coins had been done for almost two weeks (So through NCS AND NGC) and they were waiting for my CC info. I paid that day and they mailed them out that afternoon, had them home that Friday.
So, it seems like about 30 days for me. I forget the turnaround time though for coins over $300 at NGC, seems like it was shorter than the modern submission. Good luck and post some pics when you get them back!!

I agree with COTW I'd give him a call plus if he got them back and got real busy he could of forgot to call you and they could be sitting at the dealers...but most likely your only about another week or so waiting id bet but id still call, good luck!

Just sit back, relax and wait. I use my LCS, the last submission took about 6-7 months. I called my guy a couple times over the period and discovered they hold their stuff at the "main shop" and eventually submit everything together....my submissions get tossed in with 4 different shop's submissions. Hey, for just $25 flat cost per coin, I'm willing to wait. Read the posts here about people doing it themselves. You'll quickly see that the "free submissions" that come with a TPG membership are FAR from free once you factor ALL the costs in.

Same experience here. If you're an ANA member, you can submit directly to NGC, and I've done so with some success - though for something important I'd rather use my LCS.
