Hi everyone,
I am pretty new to coin collecting and have read up on airtite holders here on the forms. I have my coins out a lot and look at the often and think the airtite holders will provide the solution I need. My question to the group is does anyone know which type of holder the CAPS albums hold? The direct fit airtites or the airtites with the foam rings? or are they the same?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

Haha, strangely enough I have been researching these myself.

It is a little complicated but here is how I understand it.

Go to http://www.air-tites.com/air-tite_coin_albums.htm for reference on albums.
Go to http://www.air-tites.com/coin_size_chart.htm for reference on coin sizes and corresponding capsules.

There are two main label differences between the types of air-tites. The direct fits have a different number (IE A18 for dimes) but the overall circumference of the capsule is denoted by just a letter (IE A,H, X, Y, or Z).

The ring type only have a couple different numbers because they are sold by over all circumference with you selecting which size insert you need. so the same A26 (10mm - 19mm) capsule can hold everything up to the size of a modern US cent by changing the size of the inserts.

So, if you are collecting dimes then "model album A" would hold either type of capsule.

I hope that long winded reply helps. lol

Follow up on the CAPS albums. I bought the CAPS album for Washington quarters without the proofs and all I can say is good things about it! If you are like me and look at your coins a lot you will enjoy these folders for your BU+ coins.

This comes up every once in a while.

I think I need to get a Caps album to see for myself.

Interesting ... But I have six ASE sets going now.
I dont think I should start another of them ..

For me I think a good choice would be something with a beginning and a end. One that does not require to many
air-tites.

Just to have a CAPS example .. I only have two Ike Dansco's

------------------------------------

Am I right ... these albums are around $30 .. then around $1.00
each for the air-tites.

Are they worth it?
