I love being the first to comment, Please don't touch the coin with your bare hands. They may be clean, but the oils from your hands can ruin a coin.

Run away, the coin is a fake. Besides the cartoonish features the date position is wrong. There is no near date obverse die for this issue.

If this one sells I'll bet there are more.
I don't know how touching a thing like this could possibly damage it. It might damage the toucher though. Zika, plague, mad cow, stuff like that.

VERY counterfeit looking. This is a $2000 coin in AU condition so the $150 price tag alone is a huge red flag.

Totally agree. Check out the mint mark. Can't find it on e-bay. Removed already I reckon.

I'm glad Daniel Carr is not Chinese - amazing how the moonlight mint can crank out absolutely perfect fantasy pieces while the Chinese continue to crank out garbage like this coin

Dan Carr's are overstrikes using actual coins as planchets struck on a decommissioned US mint coin press and he creates his designs with fantasy dates while taking much care to not create something that can be altered to imitate a genuine coin design. It's not amazing at all. His work and the Chinese scum don't even.occupy the same universe

It's horrible that we have to deal with things like this. But you know, I got ripped off a lot in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, by dealers, some still in business, and a few collectors too, who sold over-graded and "cleaned" coins, under that "we use Photograde, but......know what you are buying" proviso. Still have a few of those "gems" around here somewhere! I realize we can't be bumbling idiots, but having the "radar" on at all times is not fun either.

As Fenton says when you see a coin on ebay that is worth $2000 being sold for $150 you know something is wrong. You might do that deal at a yard sale or estate sale but not on ebay or any decent auction. There is always someone in the crowd who knows true value of coins.

It's fake. Look at the O in OF America, on the reverse, and compare it to this fake 1879, which I got burned on... https://goccf.com/t/260306
