I am having trouble with this one. It looks like a DDO but I am not very good at DD's. What do you all think ? Thank you for your input.

The devices are all showing reduction from the MD, flat shelf like on those devices and all the areas in question are the same color indicating machine damage after the strike. (3 strikes and it out)

You were correct to doubt this was a doubled die.

Thank you Coop. One of these days I'll be able to tell the difference. (I hope)

MD. It took me quite a while before I found my first DDO. You will certainly know when you actually have one. It really jumps out.

Well, let me see if this helps? I'm using your images and mine put together to show machine damage vs normal cent. I'll even through in a few images of similar devices that area a doubled die. (not the same size or the same size though..sorry)

Note how the MD reduces the devices compared with a normal coin?

While this looks like MD on the doubled die, note the bottom of the 'E'? A nice notching there.

Here is a nice DDO on TRUST:

More doubling on TRUST:

Note how the hub doubling enlarges the devices. Machine damage reduces devices to even smaller than a normal coin. The doubled die has the doubling on the die. Machine damage is a normal die, that damaged the devices after the strike happened. That is why I call them machine damaged.

Thanks Coop. There really is a difference between MD and a DD. It is very obvious when I look at your pictures. For some reason not so obvious when I am searching. Perhaps wishful thinking. On the bright side...I am posting less coins with MD that I did when I first got in the forum. It must be soaking in.

So you are learning. It just takes time. While preparing the images for this thread, I picked up a minor 1937-S DDO. Probably not listed. But the 9 was the clue that something was going on. But when I took images of TRUST, there it was on the 'U'. I didn't realize it show that well on TRUST. I'll get around to images of it later on this week. (probably more in the roll as well.
