I have a couple of Asian coins that I think could be quite old but I literally know NOTHING about these types of coins. Can anybody help me identify these? Also, if possible, I would appreciate anybody that could point me to resources that could give me more information about these in the future. I always find these sorts of asian coins interesting, but without being able to read the language inscriptions there isn't much I can do to collect these sorts of coins without good resources. I think these are from japan, but that's really all I can gather. I have more of these I picked up a few years ago. Hopefully I'll be able to identify them in the near future as well.

Yes Japan

I find these incredibly difficult to work with as some aspects are based on style which only experts can decipher.

The Zeno pages should help

The above ones seem to be (assuming they are the same)

Kanei Tsuho (1 Mon 1626-1867), Shin-Kanei Tsuho, Kameido-mura, Edo (the Mint), Shimaya-sen

Your coin is Japanese and appears to be a Kan'ei tsuuhou. The mintmark is from the Kamedo mint. The diameter should be 25 mm. This link should help you further:-

or you could purchase a copy of Early Japanese Coins by David Hartill

Quite helpful responses. I'll try to make the best use of these resources to learn about these coins in the future. Thank you!
