Because Mikey M has done such a great job seeking out the bad guys selling Chinese fakes, I thought that I'd post this item from another board. It's about US fakes, but it shows that enforcement officials are starting to do something: http://www.pressherald.com/2016/05/...rfeit-coins/

Thought this info was going to be about a Canadian counterfeiter. Hope the authorities are traceing his source back. How does a quantity of imported phony coins get past customs?

Great news! I wish law enforcement would go after all of the crooks who keep offering counterfeits on ebay. Maybe as more them got sent up the river, some of the others would get the message and stop marketing the fakes. It seems to me that the authorities have ignored this problem for too long.

That's fantastic and shameful to see too though. Coins are now getting the same bootleg treatment as watches

I hope this is just the start of cracking down on the crooks who profit on selling counterfeit coins.

This, I hope, sends a clear message to anyone with the same idea.

That was too good. I used to live in Portland and my wife worked for the company that owned the Press Hearald! Like news from home.

Glad that happened. However, just as with crime anywhere, stopping one person is easy, stopping them all is different. Not much said about who and where on line those were purchased.

That's good to read. Still, browsing through ebay listings I get the impression that there are more and more of these people.

Carl, most of us here know exactly where they came from (and how easy it is to get them). I'm of the opinion that it's better if the press doesn't print the source. When they do it gives every other Sithole out there the idea that they can make a quick buck by doing the same thing. They think they'll only do a few coins, then quit before anybody notices them.
I'm glad that the secret service was mentioned. I've wondered what they've been doing about the fake coin problem. It seemed to me that they only got involved when it was bad paper.
Thanks for posting the link!

I really hope this is the start of a new phase in counterfeit prevention but I have my doubts

Man! 15 years and a quarter-million in fines. Some people just never learned the secret of Sam Vittorio.
