Quote: You're right okiecoiner, about this one being generally referred to by collectors as type 1. I was trying to respond to DEVLEC's question as to "turning type 1 into the type 2 and vise-versa" and why Jim listed them as he did in his catalog.
I was just confused a bit on the listing..and if there had been a change..(there has not..) Thanks for clearing that up Plil310,..and okiecoiner..

Coin # 38 was Haxby PC59-31a2 (31a+E32a).
This coin has the same obverse as the DP9 #5 which is Haxby PC59-31a4 (31a+E32c).
The 31a2 does have a repunched 9 and is listed in the 2011 Charlton on page 285.

coin #41 should be easy to figure out from this obverse die crack.

Seems like we need some catching up to do here!
Mystery Coin #38 I identified this as Obv31a earlier The reverse by the die cracks on Leaf 12 and Leaf 16 gives: Obverse 31a State 4 Reverse 32a State 2 So this coin is a PC59-31a2 (31a+E32a)
And now that I have a 2011 Charlton book in my possession: The variety is. "Repunched "9" in date - Page 285 - Gravestone C7"? It matches that repunched 9 that is missing a little chunk right in the centre of the 9.
(just read your post above after I wrote this, guess I was correct haha.)

Mystery Coin #39 Looks like die cracks between the NA of REGINA, the first I of VICTORIA, and the E of DEI The most identifiable one looks like the E of DEI "ID by Obv Markers" -> Clicked on "E" in DEI on the die cracks pictures That gives: Obv 45a,24,38,41 The only die crack that goes through the centre of the E is Obverse 38 - State 5
And since the reverse is posted: The only reverses that match Obverse 38 are: Rev E39,E39a,E39b,E39c. The Repunched 9 gives this one away as E39b Gotta look at everything you can on the vicky cent pages, theres so much!
PC59-383 (38+E39b) Obverse 38 State 5 Reverse E39b State 1

Mystery Coin #40
I can see a Die Crack in Leaf 12 (after clicking on "ID MY COIN") Wide gap on Vine loop #7, Vine loop #2 has a large gap -> That gives group I Then I clicked on the C in CANADA in "Repunched Letters" *blinks eyes* Looks like a quadruple punching on the top of the C in CANADA . WOAHHHH The only thing that really matches is Obverse 45a Obverse 45a corresponds to only two Group I reverses: I7 and I7a I7 has the 9/inverted9
PC59-45a1 (45a+I7) Obverse 45a State 1 (no Die Cracks) Reverse I7 State 2 (due to the Leaf 12 die crack)

Mystery Coin #41 "ID by Obv Markers" -> Clicked on "G" in REGINA on the die cracks pictures That gives: Obv 16,44,45b,54a,64a,80a
The only die crack that is very long and infront of the G is: Obverse 44. State 5 Since theres only one Reverse that is paired with 44 is I6 And since theres only one die state combination.
PC-59-441 (44-5 + I6-4)
Just learned that you can indicate die states such as Obverse State 5, Reverse State 4 as (44-5 + I6-4) Thats not the states on this coin, just an example.
Come on people don't be shy! Join in!!

Great work GregJG! Thanks for getting us caught up. Your detailed description of how you come to the attributions will be helpful for new collectors. Here are the full photos for coin # 41.

Hey fourmack, anything to get my post count up and have some fun with more '59s! Hmmmm, tricky tricky... Could be a G in REGINA or a G in GRATIA :) Will have to check both G in GRATIA didn't pan out, but G in REGINA gives lots Looks like an Obverse 1a Here's one for you! Mystery coin #42 (One I found marked DP 9 #2 (Type 2) on an auction in the US and sold to canadianvarieties) The hint being its not a DP 9 #2 haha

Two very nice and desirable varieties! That 232 is really stunning GregJG. Here is mystery coin # 43. Another heavy obverse crack.
