If you were offered some common commemorative dollars, at what price would you have to buy them?

$1 :D but seriously some of the newer common commems I don't really like all that much. If they were the silver ones, I would probably offer spot. But then again I am a cheapskate lol

I have been putting together an album and have paying about $0-$2 over spot for the common ones. The less common ones, I have been paying $20-$25 for.
I also try to find ones that are in capsules or 3rd tier slabs. If you can get them without the OPG, they tend to be much cheaper. Since I am putting them in a Dansco, the OPG is just a storage problem anyway.

I would certainly take them at melt. Since I am not actively looking to build this set, I am not sure what sort of premium above melt I would allow. Interesting question though. I will certainly have to remember it.

I was thinking the same as both of you ...
I picked them all up ... pretty sure I have them all, but never hurts to stack more silver.
A couple of these might be better than common

If you are in the position to get them at the right price, then it was the right call. Best case you have some upgrades, worst case you have some meat in your stack. But we all know the typical case, you have a second album ready to build.

That is my thought, "Why buy one, when for twice the price you can have 2" I have 2 albums going, 1 type set/year set of just UNC coins, because those are the ones I really prefer. I am not a big fan of proofs. And of course one set of "all" mint marks and proofs. Still trying to find a decent deal on the 2001 Buffalo UNC and Proof.

I was just kidding around ... no way I am going to do 2 sets. I still have a lot of empty holes in the four album full set.
I will ether just box these up or resell them someday.

Lots of them are made annually. A rational dealer, looking for quick turnover profit is more or less forced to buy them at little over melt. I think that if a collector is lucky enough to do what a dealer can do, then they make excellent material for the silver stacker type of collector. Same applies to large volume silver dollar sized coins of Australia, U.K. and Canada, as well as those of the U.S. Can make excellent resale items if in really high MS grades. If they know what they are doing, ebay'ers can do well in this sector of the market.

I too prefer the UNC over the Proof on the modern commemorative silver $1. I have been recently hunting for select issues on ebay (the ones I like and don't already have), and the best price I'm able to get on an auction is usually around $18. For most common issues, some I have been picking up for a few bucks over $20 and some for a few bucks under $20. Melt value on these is currently around $13.50. Where do you find these coins for sale at only $2 over melt?!?!
