I was scanning through Craigslist today. I know it's not a great place to buy coins, but I saw an advertisement that stuck out. It's for a Washington quarter Dansco album, with the silver dates complete except for the 1932-D & -S. There are some clad proofs and the bicentennial silvers included as well. Some of these coins look really nice from the pictures and many have nice luster. The album is definitely worth a little too in that condition. The problem is that the pics are zoomed out and some are a bit blurry, and no reverse photos are provided. Based on the pictures available, which are posted here, what is the most you would pay for this lot? Of course I would never buy it without seeing the coins in person first.

Included are all the pictures from the advertisement.

Without seeing them in person I would offer melt for the silver, face for the clad, maybe 15 for the book. I would be prepared to add an extra 5 or 10 if the Bicentennials are indeed silver.

That should leave you some room to negotiate for any particularly nice specimens you find in the set.

As usual, take precautions!

$300-400 is the going price on ebay for those kinds of sets. If you can get it for under that, you'd be doing ok I would think.

There are more condition scarcities than date scarcities within the Washingtons.

You have the 34D and 36D so off to a good start there, you can find lower grade circulated 32S & 32D for well under $100.

I agree with Half and KenKat's pricing but maybe melt + 10% on the 36D & 34D as those dates get a premium even in low grades. Anything less than AU (prior to 1940) and less than MS (after 1940) is not worth much over melt. If any of the 1940 and later are in MS, $4 to $10 per coin is acceptable. The clad is worth face even in Unc. unless you think a coin is MS66 or better (prior to 1984) or MS67 or better (after 1984.)

Like Jefferson nickels, Washington quarters are a series that is very affordable in circulated grades, but offers great challenges for collectors pursuing high end coins; both series are full of condition scarcities in MS65-MS66 and higher grades / FS for Jeffersons. (Compare the price of a 1932-1964 Washington full set in Avg. Circ. vs one in MS66 and you'll see what I mean...)
