Hi All, I am in the process of putting together sets of Kennedy halves for my wife and I and both of our kids and one set to sell. As you can imagine, I am going through rolls and rolls of coins trying to put these sets together. In my searching and examining, I am coming across numerous coins that, in my opinion, have errors but are not listed as such anywhere. I've weeded out the coins that are definitely Machine Doubling and it has still left me with 70-80 coins that are possible errors. Instead of inundating everyone with post after post after post of all these coins, does anyone have a suggestion as to how I can get these looked at either by photo or in person for opinion? Also, while I'm on the topic of Kennedy's, other than the obvious low mintage numbers ("only" 2.9 million), does anybody else have a tough time coming across 1987 P or D halves in circulation? Out of the couple hundred rolls (roughly) I haven't come across one yet. I am picking up some nice 40% silvers and some Franklins. So I got that going for me, which is nice! Thanks in advance!

I think your best bet is to select groups of coins that have identical or similar "errors" and post the best one from each group so you can get an idea of what they all are. There are a number of DDOs to watch out for in the 70s, especially the 1974-D. Chances are, a lot of your finds are minor errors like greasers that aren't worth keeping. 1987 halves were not issued for circulation, like the coins of 2002-present. You should keep them if you find them. There's a thread for roll hunted Kennedy half finds right here. We'd love to see some of your finds there!

I agree with sorting them into like stacks. Then you can post only one coin and then you/we will know what you have. No need to post 20 coins with all the same issue on them.
Another way is to search the site for previous topics to see if you can find a correlation with what you have that has already been answered. That will save you taking a lot of images.

I won't be able to post pics until probably Monday. I will take your advice and separate them into like piles and post.

Okay, so, I went back through most of the "errors" that I thought I had and was able to clear out most of them. I do have questions though regarding doubling of the eye, cheek, and neck. The coin I am referencing is a 1971-D with doubling of the eye and the neck.

Here is a site that has some Kennedy listing for doubled dies. (but it is not complete yet) Other denominations listings for DDO / DDR and RPMS: http://varietyvista.com/index.htmWexlers varieties site is not complete yet either. The CPG (Cherry-Pickers-Guide) show two listings. Both involve the Motto. the 101 is the stronger one. I checked my book and the one I have looks like the 102, but circulation damage disqualifies it to me for a DDO to pull it form the book. Most if they want to collect Kennedy halves will get examples from mint sets. The 1982 and 83 didn't have mint sets unless you got them from the mint directly as a single mint set. But that is the best way to get a collection. You can buy BU ones you are missing on ebay. But there is not a lot of interest in these at this time. Most create a book of circulation examples, then up grade later when they find/buy a better one.
