A batch of coins ready to be send to NGC and everything is prepared except I did not pack them yet.
I was wondering how some of you go about it, someone told me I have to use some sort of water activated tape. Is it necessary ?
I figured I would use a priority mail flat box and add the registered service at the post office.

They want each coin in a 2.5 inch non-PVC plastic flip, with the line item # on one side. No staples or tape on the actual flips. If there are many coins it would be helpful to bundle them together in order.
For the shipping box, you can use whatever you want. I have used USPS Priority flat rate boxes with no problems. I did tape them up in addition to the pre-applied adhesive strip. Just make sure to insure it.

All coins have been sorted according to NGC's guidelines with the insert and all that.

Another thing..
I used the online form for submission so I ended up with the forms to print, and the section to sign for the credit card is cut off and continuous on the 2nd page.
is that a problem ? does it happen to other people on the forum as well ?

I just use normal 2x2 saflips to put the coins in then I put the flips in a binder page that holds 20 flips. I then fold the page and tape it up and put it in a padded mailer with the consignment form and post it.

You could try looking for a printer option like 'shrink oversize pages' or 'scale to fit page'. But I wouldn't worry about it as long as you include the page with your signature.

Just a note - NGC has very good customer service - they respond to phone calls and emails promptly. If your coins aren't packaged exactly as they require they will have no problem with it as long as there is no security or financial risk (i.e. you put inaccurate information on the submission form).

From the Op it shounds like his concern was with the tape he could use. For priority mail you can tape the box with any tape, but if you are going to ship it registered all the seams have to be covered with the paper tape. Typically that tape is a brown paper tape with a water activated adhesive. I doubt the water activated adhesive is required but it does have to be a paper tape that the ink from the post office cancellations can absorb into. No glossy sealed surface. Some post offices will help you tape up the packages.

Thanks Conder
I was wondering about that because I actually never shipped registered within the US, so in that case you need the paper tape. Thats good to know. Ok gotta find that tape now...

I sent them 2 coins on the 13th. In theory the turn around time is 12 business days. They didn't get them logged in until the 18th. I think that translates into a return on June 7.

I have heard that submissions can be delayed if there are some major shows happening.
Is anything going on right now ?

Well, my 2 coins are on their way home. How quickly all depends upon how they are being shipped. Insured: Maybe Saturday Registered: Next week some time.
