Welcome to CCF! I look forward to other posts with examples from your inheritance.

with TypeCoin971973. This is Qing Dynasty under Emporer Gao Zong (1736-1795). I can't tell the specific variety due to the corroded surface, but in general these coins are pretty common. A nice piece though!

First off, welcome

I agree - Ch'ing Dynasty, Emperor Kao Tsung (why so many alternate spellings out there on all this?) - I just bought a baggie of cash coins last weekend and at least half were from this reign. $2 apiece seems to be the going rate for these in my area, although I happened to pay nowhere near that.

Thank you all very much for your help. Great to know.
The rest of my coin collection is mostly pre decimal Australian and some international.
