Mexican coins abound in "bargain" bins, so as unlikely as it may seem, the coin pictured below is probably my big score from the other day of scrounging through one such.

This bronze version appeared both in 1920 and 1935 when the price of silver suddenly spiked, and then were on each occasion just as quickly withdrawn when it subsided.

Even with 20 million having been struck, and a limited time in circulation, this issue is considered to be one of condition rarity, and with this specimen probably making an uncirculated red brown grade, it's worth more than you might think.

nice coin Lucky Cuss, and good work digging through that bargain bin. It feels a bit more like AU to me, with the rim dings on the rev and a few light scratches on the snake. I'm by no means an expert on grading though.

Darned if I didn't stumble across another one of these.

Hard to say if this luster's original, plus there are some flat spots on the high points along with a nasty rim ding that scream "circulated" to me, but even so a very attractive specimen and, as I stated earlier, quite hard to find in higher grades.
