#2 of the four 8R's I bought today

Hoping for the same opinions
One - see anything that looks fake
Two - Any value over silver

Too bad somebody couldn't leave the surfaces alone, which really hurts the numismatic value much more than the chops, which I rather like on this one.

Same question pertains to this coin except the trace contaminant is gold only. This applies to all Mexican issues.

I was not there., but I asked if they could tell if there was a trace
of gold.

The response I got was that their machine could identify small
amounts of gold. I think their machine is a IRXray .. Or something
like.

If I remember, I may have them take one of my other 8Rs, to see
how they read that one.

Not sure where I am at with these four coins. I have confidence that
they are silver. To me, because of the silver percentage I want to think
they are real.

The lack of trace gold, has me wondering if the NTR employee
knows how to set his testing machine.

So, the lack of trace gold and how the chop marks are placed on all
the coins, gives me concern.

Simply put - this coin can not be genuine if it has no gold content. Silver content is not the issue. Millions of copies of early Mexican 8Rs were made between 1830 and 1930 for use in China where they were worth an average of 20% more than silver content in trade.

So it depends if you want a coin actually manufactured in Mexico in 1795 or not.

I am happy with the coins. But also curious of their origins.
