So I have UC sets from 85 to 99 sitting around. I'm not a big clad collector but I got them a few years ago. From CRH I have put together sets of cents, nickels, dimes, halves, and quarters. These sets are unique to me because I personally cherry picked them from circulation. Most of the cents are AU but some of the other denominations aren't in that good of shape. I spent a lot of time putting these circulated coins in 2x2s and pages for a custom set. I'm tempted to cut open my UC sets and start replacing the 2x2 coins with these UC ones. I would likely mark UC on the 2x2 to indicate those coins came from sets and were not found in circulation. The only thing holding me back is that I can't call the set "all found from circulation" anymore. One idea was to start a new set with the UC coins but I see no reason to have 2 sets of coins that are basically worth face. If I start replacing these coins with ones from the UC sets I will just cash in the ones I cherry picked because I don't need multiples of clad coins. What do you think? Should I cut open my sets and start replacing my circulated coins or just keep holding on to the UC sets as is?

I solved the problem by just having two sets; one from circulation and another with the best coin I could find from any source at all. The second collection is mostly from mint sets.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

This.

There is no reason why you cannot have two sets. Once that was pulled from circulation, the other from the mint sets. I would certainly be happier having a second set than keeping those coins in their OGP.

I have for the past many years fully intended to have 3 sets... one from circulation, one from broken-out mint sets, and one still in OGP.

I've been much more successful in keeping mint sets in OGP than I have been breaking them out.

I have the opposite success.

Haha. I had every intention of getting mint sets back to the 60's and plugging holes in whatever set. But I decided to go a different route. lol That is how I come across the pages I mentioned. They seem like a nice and organized way to keep mint sets. Now I just need to decide whether or not to get them.
