We've seen a few interesting Hawaii notes recently, so I thought it might be fun to group them together in a single thread and share experiences. Which are the toughest? I'll lead off with this, purchased recently.

I believe the toughest $1's are the A-C block and the Star.

Here's my only Hawaii to date. Crisp but has a couple of waves in it.

Some nice sets out there!
Steve - Agree the star is tough on the $1, along with AC and ZB blocks. But the toughest one for me has been the FC block.

Here is the most common $1 block, SC - generally available for around $200 in TPG 65 PQ, which is really not bad for a unique type note.

PS - Steve, I did want to make make a special mention of how great that AU star is!

Thanks frog. I love your super gems. Once I got the Hawaiian collecting bug, I didn't stop till I had them all. My personal opinion is that they are all overpriced. They are not that rare. Check the pop reports. In the PMG pop report alone there are over 4400 graded Fr.2300's. But collectors just love them, and as long as there is a big demand, there will be higher than needed prices. The hardest for me to find was the 1934 $20. There are plenty of the 34A's, but not enough 34's.

How about something a little different? These are American Bank Note reprints, printed from the original intaglio plates. These get progressively larger as the denomination increases -- the $1 FRN gives some scale.

Steve - you're right about the Hawaiian notes, common as all get-out, just like the North Africas. But they're affordable and tell a great story (good combination) and the stars have a big following.
And that FC block - wow, wow. And another wow.
GregAlex - Thanks for showing these.
