Any thoughts on this dime? Looks like the berries from the reverse are on the lip.

Looks like a die chip making it look like drool. The coin was struck from a VLDS die. You can see the Die Deterioration on the LIBERTY and the heavy die flow on the obverse. So the die is showing its age. The reverse die looks like it is a lot fresher die than the obverse.

I thought it looked neat. Also, above the eyebrow looks like a die clash

if I understand die clashes correctly, it would be hardly possible for the highest points of the coin to be affected especially without other parts being affected as well. The highest points on the coin are the most incused parts of the die and when the dies clashed they would be "shielded" by the higher points.

Correct. The fields are usually the only areas affected by a clash. They are the outside edge of the die, the devices are deeper into the die. When a clash happens the two fields touch and where there is an outline of the devices, there maybe a transfer on those areas of the outline of the devices. (the deeper part of the die is not affected)

Another clue is the die flow on the fields. That is the first thing I noticed. That tells the die is aging. So a die chip is something that can happen.

Here's an overlay of the dime that I did to help study a clashed dime. This shows a centered clash, but it can be a misaligned clash as well.
