I am celebrating June with a little competition. All CCF members are invited to participate.
But first I'd like to tell you a couple of stories.
1. As some of you know, I was seriously ill last year and was banned from overseas travel. When I had recovered enough to do a little traveling, I booked a day trip to Calais in Northern France. I went to the Post Office to get one of the new Asterix commemorative 10-euro coins, and also a stamp for a postcard. I noticed the teller emptying a fresh roll of brand new 2-euro coins into the till, so I asked for some in change. They were all 2014-dated standard French 2-euro coins.
2. Cast your mind back to the Swinging Sixties. My Mom is driving me to school in her little red Mini. Unfortunately the car breaks down. This is long before the days of mobile phones. Mom walks to a nearby hotel and asks to use the payphone. It takes old pennies. She only has a two-shilling piece. The hotel reception clerk changes it into pennies. Mom phones the AA and they fix the car. When Mom returns to the car she gives me a handful of bright shiny 1967 pennies - the receptionist had given her 24 in exchange for the florin!
So here is the competition:
This is a jar into which I have been tossing odd shiny British decimal pennies received in change. The jar is about 4 inches tall. Guess how many pennies are in it!

The winner (closest to the correct answer) will receive a lovely uncirculated 2014 French 2-euro coin:

The second-best guess will receive a nice red uncirculated 1967 penny:

... and you know the stories behind the coins!
The competition closes on June 21, 2016 at noon (UK time).
In the event of a tie, the first response posted will be judged to be the winner.
One guess per person. If anyone posts more than once, I will only count their most recent post.
Coins will be posted to the winners using standard British post, wrapped securely in card. I will use airmail post for overseas winners!
The winner must post photos of the coins on the forum when they receive them!
NumisRob's decision is final!
