If you click on the US Coin Facts on the left sidebar of the Forum. You can go into each denomination and coin. I would start there. There is a lot of information there about the 4 years it was minted, 1979, 80, 81, and 99. Putting the link here but dont know if it will show up or not. http://www.coincommunity.com/us_dol..._anthony.asp

The Suzy B., is my wife's favorite coin. The "near dates" & "far dates" are what I tell her to focus on and research when she gets in the mood, but I think it's just the historical womens rights hero aspect, that she likes and she wants as many of them as she can get for that reason alone...lol..and that's ok, I guess.
There are 18 Susan B. Anthony coins to collect for a complete full set including Proofs and varieties. The 1981-S Type 2 proof, is the expensive one, after that, the rest are fairly inexpensive. Without the varieties and proofs, it's a very simple short set to put together.

Cuzzx, tried messaging you back, but it got kicked back to me for some reason! Go for the set, especially graded. Seems to be a good time to cherry pick some good deals. Along with being around limited years, there's also not that many big or too expensive varieties, even graded PF69DCAM or higher. My complete slabbed set is pictured at this link (the images are kind of crappy though and don't do the beauty of the coins justice): https://goccf.com/t/257140

The 1999P and 1999D SBA was minted for circulation, as a way to bolster what little interest there was in small dollar coins, before the newly designed NA dollars came out in 2000. They were not however included in the mint sets. So while there still tons and tons around, you won't be able to get a nice UNC from a mint set. Also the a 1999S proof was also issued, these also were not included in the yearly proof set, the mint issued these in a special satin and felt lined clam shell box. While these also are not particularly rare, they do have a seller proclaimed aura of being the "secret proof" because they weren't circulated or included in any proof sets. So shop around, the price on these are all over the place.

Don't forget about the 79 & 81 type 2's along with the wide rims.

I think the reason, at least in part, was that the supply of baby dollars was getting low in the reserve system. The fed needed them and the SBA was still the official design, being the year before the Sacagawea would be released.

Jbuck is correct. The Treasury had a drawdown rate of about 5 million coins a month and they realized they realized they were going to run out several months before the Sac dollars were to be released. So they had no choice but to strike more SBA's. Quote: Also the a 1999S proof was also issued, these also were not included in the yearly proof set The 1999 proof SBA is a P mint coin not an S. And the reason they weren't in the proof sets was because the desision to strike ANY 1999 SBA came months fter the proof sets were released. So the 1999 P proof came out a stand alone item with a mintage limit of 750,000 coins. And they remained on sale for four years before finally selling out.

It's funny to me (but not necessarily surprising) that to this day that some albums don't have holes (labeled) for the 1999 issues. I bought mine new less than 3 years ago and had to pop my 1999s in blank holes.

I found plenty of 1999 SBAs in circulation, all came from the post office as change from the stamp machines used at the time.

Here is a little list I made a few weeks back. I'm looking at doing a SBA set and wanted all the info in one place. If anyone else needs it, this sheet works pretty well. The prices are all PGCS. Dan
