Just C.R.H.'ing, and found this. Before I get excited, I've learned to gather thoughts and opinions first...lol Identification and value estimate please, if it is indeed a legitimate error coin.

Very nice find. It is probably worth more than what is indicated on the back of the coin.

Well, I was thinking/hoping it was worth more than what the reverse is stamped... How nice of a find this is, is what I'm waiting for...

I found a few several years back, but have not found any the last three or four years. I go through many coins. They are somewhat hard to find. I looked at the bay and saw that some were selling for 25-30 range.

It looks like it was struck through an early capped die. You can see the reverse enlarged. Very nice find.

There is really no reasoning behind ebay. If two individuals with money see it and decide they need it then it could go much higher. If for some reason people are not looking then it could go lower.

I've never bought or sold anything on ebay....but I'm glad to be informed of what it's going for there, because I know that ebay is a good "real time" value of what things are going for.

Looks like a capped die or a brockage. Nice error find! I see you cracked open a box after my post I can help you out on a date figure. This is a pre-1993 penny with the Wide AM reverse. That's what you have. So it's gotta be a 1959-1992 penny

Awesome find Eaglefoot. I don't understand how a bank employee didn't see this, know something was obviously wrong with it, and pulled it out. Anyways, really awesome find.

That is awesome congrats! That's one I've not found yet in all my searches...and Eaglefoot brockage is the image you see of the memorial on your coin that was transferred from the coin that was stuck to the hammer die(capped die) the design transfer is called brockage
