Literally "war money" and if it looks a little rusty, well it is on account of its ferrous composition. An emergency issue that states upon its face that it's good until one year after the "final peace", and I wonder whether that term ended up being interpreted as the date of the armistice or that of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

@luckycuss, very nice piece of history. Thanks for sharing it. Are you planning to do anything about the rust spots? I would think that they might get worse over time.

Neat! I have not seen one of this type before.

Do you know if they are listed in Krause under the associated German state or if they are exclusive to specialty book(s)?

The catalogue reference I've seen associated with this is Funck 80.2, for whatever that's worth.

I don't know if I should. I'd say for the moment, no.

The Funck catalogue covers only Notgeld and is the main/standard reference here in Germany when it comes to these coins.

This is yet another lovely piece of Notgeld. Thanks for posting!

I'm not surprised that it's rusty: Notgeld was produced during war times when (high quality) resources were scarce. I have some Notgeld, like the Ocher Groshen, that's much more rusty than this. Best to do is to keep it in a low oxygen spot to stop the corrosive process.
