I received this note last week in a half-strap of $10s.

Matching-Serials---88808185

The serial number jogged an old memory. Probably 18 or 19 years ago, I received a number of new consecutive $1s from the bank that had lots of 8s in the serial. I remember at the time even phoning the bank afterwards to ask if they happened to have the strap with all 8s, but they weren't too interested in looking. In any case, the serial on the $10 reminded me about those $1s because I thought one of the serials might have been close - something like 88808188 or some such. Upon searching my list, I found that I had saved these two notes with six 8s:

But it also turns out that lo those many years ago, I had saved the ten consecutive notes spanning 88808180 through 88808189 - including 88808185. So I've managed serendipitously to pair up two notes with matching serials:

Boy, if that serial number jogged an old memory, you must be a lot younger than me!

I agree Joe.

To show you how random the hobby is, when I viewed this thread just now, I noticed you had 12 posts, and it made me think that I collect serial #12.
