Looks like a legit and valuable error. Looks like a Struck through an early die capped steel cent (probably a 1943). I would like to see a copper coins on one or both sides of this coin to see how the edges look. It looks normal width to me. But an image taken with the two extra coins will give us a better idea of the width of the edge. Very nice find. I would probably send this one off to be graded. It would be a very rare find.

If coop says you should send it in I probably would. Now that I know this is legit, congrats on this really cool find.

The letters are enlarged because of being struck through the reverse of a capped die that was stuck on the hammer die. That tells me it is legit right there. Again. Nice find.

The only thing that was throwing me was the thickness but now that you mention it mabi it is normal thickness and it was just the close up throwing us and the mention of it being 2 coins stuck together-so now I'm real curious as well on the true thickness EDIT: I just reread the OP and he did say it was double the weight so

That is a first I've seen with two fused together. Don't break them apart. They are worth more left like that.

yeah how this happened I think was one coin got jammed then another one on top of it then the coin got struck and the two fused together and 1 coin got stuck in the die causing the brockage just a guess

Nice coin Eric! I am no expert on error coins, but that is a very interesting coin. Just wondering; where I should post my error coins? Would it be ok if I posted one here?

Very awesome coin... I have been following this thread since the beginning! Send it in through NGC in that case, and let us know what it gets.
