Based on my understanding of how brockage occurs, this would be purely coincidental, besides being highly unlikely. I would love to see that as a genuine mint error, but I am skeptical

I'm assuming a magnet sticks to it since your calling it a 1943 steel cent? It looks really cool but I have my doughts that it's genuine. I could be wrong but I've never seen anything like this or know if it's even possible.

It looks more like one solid excessively thick planchet rather than two bonded together You may want to look for any other WWII era coins struck in the US that fit the criteria, it could potentially be a non-US planchet.

Have to ask, cause my eyes and pics keep playing tricks with me. Are the devices raised or incused on the expanded side? Thanks, Doug.

If it's real, I imagine it would carry a very nice premium. I hope it's real for ya. Maybe one of the resident experts will chime in sooner or later & point us all in the right direction
