In 2016, for the first time in the whole history of Belarusian ruble, coins will be introduced due to the redenomination planned. Previously, Belarus was one of the few countries in the world never to have issued coins; this is largely due to the rampant inflation which has been a problem since independence. Slovakia has offered to mint the coins, and has provided prototypes. The coins of up to 5 kapeykas are to be struck in steel and copper; the 10, 20, 50 coins in steel, copper and brass; and the 1 and 2 rubles coins in steel, brass and nickel. All coins will show the National emblem of Belarus, the inscription Belarus and the year of minting on their obverses. The reverse will show the value of the coin accompanied by different ornaments with their own meanings. The first of July 2016 - come the first Belarusian coins into circulation. If you are interested in this topic, write me. I would be happy to talk and help. Edited by katsiaryna 06/11/2016 12:54 pm

After 25 years without any coins, lots of people will have to change their wallets to those that include a coin compartment (or what's it called) Anyway, an interesting modern-looking set. If I remember correctly the currency changeover was planned before, but then postponed.

The coins were minted in 2009, the mints Slovakia and Lithuania, and lay in stock in the National Bank. First in July 2016 will be held a denomination, will be removed from the nominal zero 4. Belarus - the last country in Europe in which there will be a regular circulation coins extra coinage to be ordered as needed.

I can't email you. Either it's a forum setting you've got wrong or else it's standard members with very few posts can't get them.

I must say, it is probably not the best idea to put one's e-mail address in a post just like that. I also suspect the messaging system is turned off for very new members by default.

Belarus had actually minted quite a few NCLT coins previously, with what was, due to the sheer inflation, ludicrously low face values.
As it happens, all of that NCLT will now become legal tender (to an extent, at least) for their face value in new rubles (10000 times more than it used to be), which in many cases would be quite a bit of money (a typical Belarusian 1 oz silver NCLT coin would have a face value of 20 rubles - about $10; the 1000 ruble silver kilo now has a $500 face value, which IIRC is actually above spot price).

Clarification of the National Bank until it was not. But today the price of commemorative coins of 1 ruble of about 10 Dolar. while new ruble will be about $ 1. so no one will give a coin 10 times lower than the nominal value. the price of the coin is 20 rubles, about $ 24, 10 rubles, about $ 15. number of coins were not round Thomas .. Therefore, waiting for clarification of the National Bank.
