Hi! I went to a garage sale today, where I purchased sewing supplies. In the bottom of one of the cookie tins (why is sewing stuff always in cookie tins?!), I found this. Does anyone have any idea what it is? A coin?, a token? It's probably rubbish...but thought I would check before tossing it out. Thank you.

It appears to be a replica of a ancient coin.

It's most likely a copy of an ancient Athens Tetradrachm, if you can remove it from the capsule and take more pictures of the coin including some of the edge we will be able to tell better.

Well that's interesting! Thanks guys for the speedy replies. Funny the things little old ladies keep in their sewing tins!! Is this of any interest to anyone, or should I just toss it?

I'd keep it just as a novelty, but if you aren't interested in it there's really no reason to keep it.
