Hello Everybody!
Jim here from Clifton Park, NY. I am an amateur collector. I am interested in coins and cast iron and metal detecting. Though originally from Southern Oregon, the Navy has brought me to Clifton Park, NY. I enjoy searching pocket change for errors. I want to start a collection of affordable slabbed pennies to start with and hope to find some here!
Thanks! Jim Edited by JimKing366 06/14/2016 11:36 am

Hello I'm from Indiana and have a 1986 d quarter with what appears to be a 7 next to the year 1986. Is this anything that I should hold on to.

I have spent many summers in the Adirondacks near Lake Placid, and passed by Clifton Park every time I went there from the Albany airport. It's a great area! Just a piece of advice- before you start buying slabbed coins, make sure you read up on what you want to buy before hand. Make sure to buy from trusted services like PCGS and NGC, and always make sure you 'buy the coin, not the slab'. You can get lots of information on this site.
DIstevenson- you can post that in a new thread in the error & variety forum, this just isn't the place for it. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks welcome, All! and thanks for the pointers, Numisma. I dream of owning a Carson City set, but I can't afford that. Right now I think I am going to start with the IHP and Wheats. -Jim

IHCs and wheats are a good thing to start with. Both series have their keys, but for most dates you can get a nice example for a decent price.

Welcome! I live in Albany, and worked in Clifton Park for a while when I first moved out here a few years ago.
