Hello from North Dallas, TX everyone, my grandmother gave me some coins before she died, and I have no idea the value. In particular, I have a $10 bank roll of Kennedy half dollars that is open on one end, and 3 coins look like they have been touch, the next one down looks brand new. I haven't touch any of the ones buried in the roll. I wanted to know if I should try to sell it as is, or open it and sell them individually. Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks! If there's anyone in the Dallas area that would like to see my small stash and tell me if I have anything of value, I'd be open to that. Thanks again. Jason Edited by Rusty429 06/15/2016 9:25 pm

Firstly, welcome!
Secondly, could you provide us with the year of the coins? Anything before 1971 is silver.

Looking at your signature... thought I'd reveal mine.. Oldest coin I ever found in circulation 1888 Indian Head penny. Found it in college in the change tin when I sold Little Debbie cakes from my room!

90% silver. Worth $130-150 on ebay. A local shop would likely offer $100 or less

to CCF. "have no idea the value" Since they are from your Gma they are priceless right If you must sell them I think you should keep the best one or two,put them in 2x2's and label accordingly. I hope you stick around and enjoy our great site. John1

Raven. Little Debbie cakes out of your room? I have to ask, what college? Did your Grand give you any other coins? Take some pictures, post them and we'll tell you what's what.

I agree. ebay would be the best place to sell them. List as an auction, and take clear pictures with a good camera. Especially if they are in great condition. Silver is almost $18 an ounce right now ($4 higher than it was 6 months ago). And 1964 JFK halves will sell for more than the value of silver every time. If you don't need to sell them, they would be great to hang onto as a long term investment. (Silver and Gold are great to hang onto.) But if you do decide to sell, it might be nice to keep one as a keepsake from your Grandmother. I know I would. Welcome to the site. Look around and ask questions. Tons of experience here. It is an invaluable resource of great advice and immense knowledge.

Before you do anything, check the back of at least 5 random halves. If they have a small D mint mark, bottom left side of coin just under the branch that the eagle is holding then they might be worth a little more ,as I have found that 64-D Kennedy's are hard to come by for reasons unknown . BTW , To CCF .

According to NumisMedia,P and D are almost the same value. Any chance there are any accented hair varieties mixed in there? Also errors/varieties of any kind? That would add numismatic value. John1

If the coins were obtained in Dallas by Grandma back in the 1960s, then they might be Denver mint coins.

Being from Grandma, I would keep them. I have a Lincoln Cent album filled from my Mom's penny jar. Mom passed away 5 years ago. Mom's pennies will never be for sale. Silver being the volatile metal that it is may one day be worth $50 an ounce again. My 2 cents worth says keep 'em.
