Something is wrong, possibly work the clad. It's a brass color instead of gold. It has a copper core, and there's a rim on the obverse side. I'd it just oxidation? Doesn't seem like it could be.

That is a perfectly normal patina for a circulated golden dollar. The outer layers are manganese brass which initially has a bright gold color but eventually oxidizes to the more familiar brown. The problem is that so few of the golden dollars receive enough circulation to actually develop a significant patina.

The gash on the bridge of Sac's nose in the patina-ed one makes her look like she's scowling, or at least not as chipper as in the non-gashed coins.

I used to have a Sacagawea dollar that was even more brown than this one.

I think I gave it to my father (who wanted to get a bunch of different dollars - he also had a SBA dollar, a Canadian loonie and a Mexican peso). For all I know he gave it back to me already; can't recall, unfortunately.

The 2000 NA's are the only year that I have noticed this patina on. I have two in my collection that I picked out of a mint roll in 2000 that were already toned a brown/green/purple. Over the years the toning is slowly going to an all brown. I also have a 2000-P pocket piece that was toned an even brown that is now turning into a nice circulation cameo. I don't have any other toned NA's from any other year. I think I read something about the mint experimenting with different coatings that either caused this or prevented it, I'm just not too sure about this info.
