The last pics may suggest molten metal or slag from a braising rod on the coin surface. Still thinking it would have been introduced after strike.

The pics color and texture maybe playing tricks with my eyes again. Thanks, Doug.

By definition a Cud has to involve the rim.
That coin doesn't.

Yours would either be a major die gouge
OR
post-Mint adhesion.

What about that ridge along the top left side of the metal piece? Almost looks like a ridge on a cent?

The last reverse pic looks similar to the original pics. Some foreign material applied after strike. Thanks, Doug.

Thanks for the input, Dustin. I have not done any brazing lol. The metal is copper collored. My pics are the original color of the coin. I respectfully have to disagree that it was "molten metal". I think something else caused it. It does resemble some other broken die coins but just on a much larger scale.

Also, wouldn't brazing cause heat damage? Like a dark area on the coin?

Maybe the weight might yield a clue if something was added or not? Seems like an epoxy material to me.

The flow covering the exposed parts of the date looks the same as the stuff on the reverse.

If metal based like you think then I made a suggestion nothing more. Yes if the coin was heated it would usually show, but I was not saying the coin itself was heated. Thanks, Doug.

Thanks for the helpful insight Doug. It's baffling to me. I am just getting to weigh it shortly.

The weight seems spot on and suggest other wise to my thinking of it being an added substance to the coins surface.

That said having a hard time convincing my eyes that its not. Thanks, Doug.

Yes, I hear ya Doug! Same here. I know the scale is accurate too. I just bought it this year and have used it a bit.

I'm having fun trying to figure this one out.
