Hi, this is my first post here...I am selling a bunch of coins for a friend, and the guys at the shop said I should look into this one some more. It is a 1955 proof set in which the quarter is missing and there are 2 foils. You can see that it has not been opened. Any extra value to that, or is it just a packaging error? Thanks for your help! Hmmm... I've seen quite a few l55 proof sets, but I've never seen one like that! There absolutely should be a quarter where one of those foils are. If that is genuine,, I don't know whether it would increase or decrease its value. Lets let a few more people to check in here.

I would buy it as a curiosity. I probably would not want to pay more than a set that had the quarter.

to CCF.That is pretty cool. Go ahead and post it on the modern error and variety forum because those are modern coins. Also I would like to see what they say about it. It will get more attention on that forum.

Actually, the Franklin half is a classic coin... Anyways, neat error proof set. Not sure on value though.

Packaging error. Additional value would be minimal.

Packing error making the set interesting and collectible to an error specialist, but as to increasing the value? not really, the quarter is worth more to me than the curiosity of the packing error. Need to find the right collector to make a good profit on it, but one never knows, might be worth putting into an auction and see what happens, if you're not intent on keeping it.

Quote:Actually, the Franklin half is a classic coin... I thought any US coin that depicted a historical figure (not Liberty) is considered a modern coin. Anything depicting Liberty or any non-human design is considered classic.

Gotta agree with TypeCoin here - that's the definition I've always used.
