I see some traces of wear, but nothing that indicates a die error (in my opinion, that is). Nevertheless, please have my compliments on making such sharp close ups of this cent! Nice work!

What you are seeing on your coin is called master die doubling. This very common on all three mints. While it is a die doubling, it very common and worth what it says on the reverse of the coin. The '7' looks like a contact mark on it. The device is normal sized, so it is not hub doubled. Just a normal device with slight damage.

Yep,it is common because it is on most of the dies. That is because the doubling originated in the master die, which makes the several working hubs, which then make the many working dies. That is a reference from one of coops educational files, maybe he'll post it.

Quote: 10 posts into the forum and already learning stuff. That doesn't surprise me at all. I've been here for years and still learn something new here all the time. Today I learned that these are common and that coop has pics of everything. Just kidding -- he's still collecting pics.
