Hello, I am new here and I have a question. Is there any special engravings or markings that identifies the coin to be rare. My friend has this US dime from 1975 and it has No S.

585 million dimes were minted with no S at the Philadelphia mint.

318 million were minted with a D mint mark and 2.8 million proofs were minted with an S mint mark.

Unless the coin in question looks like a proof and is msiing the S mint mark then it is most likely a regular circulation strike Philadelphia minted strike.

Your friend is probably confusing a circulation strike from the Philadelphia mint with the rare error that is found only on proofs.

when one sees a story about a coin that is super rare, they confuse it with a regular one. I've seen a bazillion listings on ebay for a super rare 1970 quarter that is just a regular quarter that they think is the one that has been on the news for a little bit. Anyways, if you have some pictures we could take a look at them.
