Along with a couple of rpm's (1945S-1MM-002 & 1951S-1MM-001) found today, I also came across this 1952S with a pretty severe lamination. The peel is loose on the coin. I was born the year this coin was minted, but I think I have held up a littie better than Abe.

It me it looks like a struck through debris on the coin. (still considered a lamination) But it looks like something altered the color on your coin along the way with the darker color?

It may have been a peel off/split off a different planchet before your coin was struck. Now making it part of your coin from being struck onto it.
