I would love to get an idea about this one, I think it's the nicest early 10 cent piece I have. Luster don't seem to come out very much in the photos unfortunately...

I would give it a 58, though I want to say 62 63, the appearance is off, maybe just the light? Looks double dipped!

Man wish I had eyes to see what you see...loll I don't know if it's been dipped, I'm not the orig owner. Would sure like to know what to look for though if it is for the future because it didn't come cheap when I bought it. I probably should have sent it in the ICCS right away if I doubted it and returned it if it was. I might try to get better pics before the weekend. I know if a coin is this new looking but the rims are beat up, probably cleaned in the past. I didn't really pay attention when I bought it. But other than that, for me, it's hard to tell.

It can be difficult to tell from a photo, but the cartwheel effect is noticeable when a mint state silver coin with its natural finish is slighly swivelled around. This article says it better than me, might be helpful.... "A coin having mint luster will show the cartwheel effect. The cartwheel effect is similar to the effect shown by a rapidly rotating stagecoach wheel. The wheel will appear to be rotating slowly in a direction that is opposite to the actual direction of rotation. When a coin having full mint luster is tilted back and forth in the presence of a light source, the direction of the diffused light reflected off of the surface will change from clockwise to counterclockwise as the direction of the tilt is changed." Innuendo suggests you may want it graded.
Can't see any wear on King's moustache or eyebrow, full eight pearls and sharp centre diamond, no wear on the band of the orb, nice and rough on the headband of the crown. Reasonable detail in the King's hair, little bit less in his beard.
They are the points where you look for wear, with Mackennal busts.
Same applies to the crown on the reverse, high points of the leaves intact.
Rims reasonably intact.
Looks to be reasonably sharply struck.
Has to be some sort of MS grade.
A few nicks and small dents most evident in the lettering, consistent with MS63 grade.

Thanks for the pointers guys..will definitely read article & take note for future purchases. Might send it in to NGC or PCGS, I want to try these guys out & I like the idea of hard slabs for Nicer coins, no offence ICCS/CCCS.

I look at the base of the crown on the Obv. and the tips of the leaves on the Rev.. If there is no wear, I go to the rims and look for a nice "ripple" the whole circumference.
I agree with sel_691 that it is MS but also on the caution side with Alan as it has something different about it, almost a polished look. This may be just due to the pictures.

Nice coin.
From the pics, I'd say an ms63 with an outside chance of an ms64.
Polished 'no', but definitely dipped, but who cares, as most brilliant white coins of this age have been dipped a number of times.

nice looking coin, I would say ms 62, cleaned or dipped at some point, and I have concerned the rim looks a little soft.

Always thought about trying it but never did before this. Great for showing cartwheel I think.

Your illustration is hilarious! Great job! It certainly appears like the cartwheel effect although natural silver coins 100 or so years ago generally exhibit some level of toning. A dipped coin.....when the reference to "blast white" is used, that pretty much describes it, like a coin wearing a fake looking silver coat:-( Regardless, it's certainly not a cleaned coin and I do not see any wear. If the cost or effort of getting it stabbed is not prohibitive, I think you should go for it. The satisfaction of acquiring nice pieces and establishing their grade becomes a future measurement in gaining expertise (which I'm not there yet LOL!)

I'll guess MS-63PCGS/NGC if that's the route you take :)
