These look like jewelry pieces, normally seen pierced for middle eastern dancers costumes. Likely brass.

@bacchus, yep exactly where I was going with this. I think that they often have the same design on the front as back (often because they are so thin that one side is incuse of the other).

Looks like they came from a Middle Eastern belly dancer while my Father-in-law was away in the war.
