The "U" does get your attention. I wonder what it was struck through? NGC didn't seem to know.

I suppose both coins were Struck Through Grease. Was it roller marks that caused the lines on Lincoln's head on the first coin?

Truman, IMO this is a coin you could send in if you wanted. It is a great example of Struck Through Grease.

I would not submit this one to be graded. The coin is probably worth about what the grading fees would be.

Indeed! Where were my manners? I do agree, it could be sent in, but it would probably cost more than the value of the coin.

That is correct.I also wondered why NGC didn't mention what it was struck through.My guess is the prominent "U" threw them for a loop.It's fascinating that an entire coin is struck through but 1 letter is perfect.
