not sure, I don't know how to weigh a coin effectively, or I don't own a scale that will.

Appears defaced in some way, but not by a hammer.

Maybe a harsh cleaning or could be struck through - though I never seen anything that extreme for that. We'll see what the experts say.

Odd that the you stands out on the reverse - and the lack of affect on the rim. Interesting.

I thought the same about the rim. Looks strangely intact.

Yes I agree the rim is unaffected. It makes me think it's a mint error.

The roller marks remain intact after strike. Weak details through out both obverse and reverse. Rims in place.

1. Rolled thin.
2. Weak strike or adjustment strike.
3. Struck Through Grease.

Thanks, Doug.

edit: was not meaning to say it is all three above, but rather list some possibilities that might cause this effect.

My guess it's also a combination of things. One more possibility to add is Inadequate Upset. Almost all the perimeter devices are affected.

Thanks, Guys!!
So because I'm new to this I end up Googling the terminology a lot, and I'm amazed at how much everyone else knows.
For me it's like trying to read at an 8th grade level, when you're in the 2nd grade.
Thank you.
Hopefully someday I'll be able return the favor.
