Actually melt is 1.12 US each based on careful research at NGC World coin Pricelist June 30. Each dollar face of 80 per cent Canadian silver coin contains .60 ounce Troy of pure silver.

Currently silver is $24.89CAD The roll of 10 cents is; 50coins x .10 dollars x .6 troy oz. per dollar x $24.89 per oz. = $74.67CAD

Spot price for silver is $19.23 US. There are 3 oz of silver in each dime roll (.6 X 50). The Official US/CD exchange rate is $1.294. 19.23 X 3 X 1.294 is $74.65 Cdn full spot and $57.89 US. You can only get 90% of melt value tops because, if each coin had any wear, it doesn't weigh as much as the day it was minted. Because gold and silver is so volatile right now because of Brexit, you may only get 80-85% of spot because prices change so fast.

I don't know why everyone is talking about spot if it's a choice+ roll they're not going to go for melt.

I was wondering the same thing as well. As collectors, we shouldn't wonder why the value of our collection is going downhill if we consider the value of everything up for sale to be worth spot price. @ Pokermandude That's kind of assuming, after reading the SD MS63 thread LOL!....you must feel you have to keep an eye on this forum just to defend your pricing! Edit: Pokermandude, very sorry my spell checker was at it again - amusing (not assuming).

I do read the forums often and I comment on many threads. Especially in the grading forum. Once in a while, my own listings do come up and I comment on those as well.
Something is only worth what a buyer and seller agree it is worth. Price guides are just that, only guides. At around melt value ($1.53 each currently) you can get circulated 1930s-1960s and uncirculated 1962-1966 dimes pretty easily. 1959 isn't a rare date, but they're better than melt. For me, they are not worth even cherry picking and certifying. I'll leave that to someone else.
