I'll be working at an archaeological site (the Roman colony of Pollentia) in Mallorca for the month of July, so I may not be able to post too much. I will have Wi-Fi, so I'll try to come here when I can, but I can't be sure. I have to be at Sea-Tac tomorrow (July 2nd) morning at 5:00 , and I arrive back here around 1:00 AM on the first of August. I'll try and keep you all posted if we find any coins at the site. I probably won't be posting much for the week of August 14th to 19th either, since I have marching band rehearsal 12 hours a day. Have a great summer, CCF!

So far most of the finds have just been fragments of pottery and bones, with some Roman glass as well. A few of us, not including me, have found coins, though. I made my name yesterday when I was the first to identify a coin someone found that day off the top of my head as a sestersius of Gordian III, and knew the dates of his reign (238-240 CE). Later I identified it using wildwinds.com as RIC 294A, struck in 240. I have some pictures I may be able to post later.

I just noticed this thread again, and thought I'd share a couple pictures. First of all, here's the Gordian III sestertius I mentioned: Here's the coin I found, on the second-to-last day of the season. I don't think I mentioned it yet, but here it is. There's basically no detail left, but based on the tiny size my best guess is Constantius II. These are just quick pictures I snapped with my phone, so the quality is not great.
