Looking for help on finding out anything on a 1888 Shield nickel.

Yes I did say 1888 - All the books and sites say the coin stopped mintage in 1883.

I had sent the coin to PCGS and it has been returned Genuine with Env. Damage - VF Details

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Dale
Rest in Peace

Trying to get pictures

PCGS has it numbered as a Liberty Head Coin however it is clearly a Variety 2 without rays Shield nickel.

Rest in Peace

PCGS isn't perfect. We see slabbing errors here from time to time -- and I don't just mean a different opinion about the coin's grade.

However, old coins that have been circulated often have dates that get damaged and worn.....so a nice close-up of the date would help -- as well as pics of both sides of the coin.

Keep trying to get those pics.

Pics needed, but probably a labeling error?

Definitely post pictures, most likely corrosion makes the date look like 1888. Will be interesting to see,

Need pictures but the coin could be an 1868 or 1883 (Or if you are lucky an 1880)
