I have never heard of that particular lens. The name immediately makes me think of Leica It may be an associated company. I did a quick search and found this old thread on the 50mm version. The pictures shown are impressive. Its always hard to know how a particular lens performs with out trying it. If its cheap it would probably be well worth getting. http://forum.mflenses.com/viewtopic...iew=previousOne word of caution shorter length lens are sometimes sharper than longer lenses from the same manufacturer Edit I did a search and saw the one you may be looking at I don't think you can make a mistake at that price. If you hadn't already spotted it I would have jumped at it. I would go so far as to say if you don't want to buy it tell me so I can.

It sounds like the manufacturer is trying to use a name that resembles the Leica TELYT name (180mm f/3.4 APO-Telyt-R, for example, which is definitely not a macro lens).

I have an exacta mount on my bellows, so it's a very good match for me. Do I need it probably not, do I want it? yes. But the name is apparently a bit of a wild card.

Not sure if this helps . After doing some checking: Will Wetzlar was an optical company that was taken over by Leica

I think it's the same lens as the Rolleinar 75/4.5. Actually a very nice lens. I like the adapter you got with it. It's really two adapters, a Leica M39-T-mount, followed by T-mount-Exacta. Someone has replaced one of the screws on the T-mount-Exacta adapter with a thumbscrew, which is really a nice idea.

So I bought it, and just tried it out. First off its very light 34.4 grms. The aperture appears to use only 4 blades, hence the square instead of round aperture. And the outside lens mounting looks a little weak. I took 2 shots 1 with this lens and one with my go to workhorse lens an Omega El-Omegar 75mm f/3.5. I did not move the coin or change the lights. I only adjusted the distance to get the coin in focus. El-Omegar Will Wetzler Macro-Doryt 75mm f/4.5 I can see no difference. Both are nice clean images. Not exactly a Ray(rmpsrmps) quality shootout, but I'm trying. What kind of test images should I shoot? Finally, Ray you are again correct The Exakta mount is in fact a 2 piece mount. This mount is one of the main reasons I bought this lens. Now I can easily swap out lenses using the exakta mount.

Wizzy1, I enjoy viewing (excellent photos) your top of the line coins. Congratulations on achieving such great quality examples. In the above pics, the top one (El-Omagar) seems to show more detail and contrast to me. Even has more sharpness too. Just saying with my 70 year old eyes and my MacBook Air. Ham

Wizzy...to compare, you'll need to look at 100% pixel crops without any processing. You also need to make sure the lenses are each set to their best respective apertures. It's really hard to tell differences between lenses when the image has been downsized.

Ok here goes This is as close to an identical crop as I can do. Both apertures set at 8. El-Omegar Will Wetzlar

Tough call, they both look good at f8. Is f8 the best aperture for both lenses? That would not be good, since one is nominally f3.5, and the other f4.5. By f8 they may both be diffraction-limited.
