Does anyone have any opinions on what kind of error the shape is? I know there are multiple errors on this penny but excited to get some of your thoughts.

As noted, a badly damaged coin. Maybe ground down on a belt sander or filed down to remove the rim of the coin. Heavy scoring on the obverse suggests sanding.

Spendable yet.

People sometimes used to sand the edges off of cents to stuff them in dime rolls.

Yup, or use them in pay phones or vending machines.
